July’s Twisted Sista | Linda Dobson

This month we caught up with Grunge and Lace Owner – Linda Dobson. You may be familiar with her work, as we recently got the coolest Denim jackets made by Linda with our signature ‘Twisted Sista’ Print on the back. Linda has been running Grunge and Lace for Four Years now and has created thousands of Hand-Made custom prints and designs. And what makes Grunge and Lace different from any other custom clothing brand? Get reading to find out!

What made you start your own business? Have you always had that Girl Boss Hustle? Or was it something that you grew into?

I’ve always been creative but never really thought it was something I could make a living off, I was on maternity leave and started screen printing tshirts as gifts for family and friends, they were loving them so I decided to start a little insta page… 5 years, 18000 followers across insta and fb, and thousands of tshirts later. Grunge and Lace became bigger then I’d ever dreamed. And now Grunge denim has branched from that, I can’t wait to see where this goes!

What inspired the creation of Grunge Denim?

My own love for denim, grunge fashion, embracing my feminist attributes & the need to express myself creatively

Have you always had a love of creative design?

Always. Art has always been my way to relax and express myself

What was your dream job as a kid and why?

I wanted to be a vet, and then I realised you had to be in school for a really long time. And it wasn’t all about cuddling cute dogs 😂

Tell us briefly, what makes Grunge Denim different from other Custom Clothing brands?

Each piece is hand painted and hand screen printed and 100% one of a kind

Tell us about another #GirlBoss who has inspired you

Ahhh there’s so many! One of my biggest inspirations has been Marayna @kenziecollective she’s so bright and vibrant and an absolute Queen!

What has been your favourite Grunge Denim piece that you’ve created so far?

Matching Bowie inspired jackets for @hair_by_jools & her daughter!

Have you had any major setbacks whilst running your business? if so, how did you bounce back?

Years ago I had one of my designs stolen and sold on Ali Express, it was devastating for me, but I grew from that and came to the realisation that no one can be me. I AM my brand and that can’t be replicated

If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?

Haha so random.

A cat? Coz they don’t give a f*#k 😂

If you could share a glass of wine with anyone (famous, not famous, living or dead) who would it be and why?

Beyoncé! But I’d totally be awkward and just word vomit the whole time, kinda like I’m doing now 😆
